Will I Still Need Glasses After LASIK?
The goal of laser eye surgery is to dramatically reduce your dependence on glasses and/or contact lenses. While the majority of our patients no longer need glasses for any type of activity after LASIK, there are exceptions in some circumstances.
For example, if you have a very high prescription, you may still find you need glasses for certain activities after LASIK. However, you will not need to use them as often, and your prescription will be much lower, freeing you to do more without the burden of eyewear. After performing a comprehensive eye exam, our experienced Dallas eye surgeon Dr. Brooks will discuss what LASIK eye surgery can accomplish in your unique case.
It’s also important to remember that even if LASIK completely corrects your vision, you may still need reading glasses later in life since your eye’s natural lens will become less flexible as you age – a universal disorder called presbyopia. Since this is a problem with the lens in your eye, not the cornea, it is not a problem that can be solved or prevented with LASIK.
If you are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism and want to transform your vision with LASIK, please contact Brooks Eye Associates today or call (972) 736-9347 to schedule a screening with Dallas eye surgeon Dr. Dain Brooks.
